The Sauk Rapids Years

During the better part of 1978 and 1979, my left-brain was focused on learning the technical ins-and-outs of recording by any and all means possible (which in those days meant, mostly just spending time doing it).

During this same time, I bought a rat-hole of a "fixer-upper" that needed so much work it was sad.

But I was completely undeterred, and just blew through projects (with massive help from both Bob and John) with the unwavering energy that you only ever have in your twenties!

I mean it went so far as actually digging an external entrance (by hand!) into the crawlspace and then enlarging it so I could move the hot water heater out of the kitchen!

Who does that?

In 1978, I met Brenda Jean Kleinschmidt.

And I guess it would be an understatement to say "we just clicked."

We really kind of exploded onto each other, if we're being honest here.

Two Type-A personalities that were barreling forward, taking on life with exuberant, reckless abandon and not looking back at all.

It was the proverbial match made in heaven!

We had a short, tumultuous, rollercoaster of a courtship and quickly decided we were meant for each other and tied the knot in late 1979.

Of course John was my Best Man and Jean was Brenda's Maid of Honor.

And then look what happened. In a few months, we discovered this phenomena.

(We're still not exactly sure how that happened!)
