College
Screecher
Not sure if the nickname originated in high school or college, but I do know that I had a big-ole sweatshirt made in college that said "Screecher" in big letters across the front.
It was in reference to the fact I was usually the one that got to play all the high notes - which at that time - was kind of a badge of honor in the "horn community."
Which Bands
At one time or another I was in something like 5 different bands in college; Jazz I, Jazz II, Jazz III, Symphony, Pep Band and Marching Band (which, by the way, really paled in comparison to the Westminster High School Marching Band).
The Split Brain
College is where I figured out that I wanted to be a recording engineer and follow a path of using, the seemingly equally portioned parts of my brain. (more on that on the Creative Journey)
I was actually going to school for an AS Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, but was also heavily involved in the music program as well.
From the Archives
Some of the very first live recordings I did with my Sony 2-track reel-to-reel recorder. These were recorded at a Jazz Ensemble II concert in May of 1977.
