Psychic Surgery (part II)

Death of a Band

After banging our heads against the wall for almost a decade with no real success for [any] of the bands, we made the final death-blow decision to just abandon the power trio idea and add a female front to the band for a more pop feel. (Hell, at this point, getting traction as a "pop" band would've been better than the slow, agonizing death roll we were in.)

With the sheer number of musicians we burned through in the first version of Psychic Surgery, it seems like it would be hard to define a Psychic Surgery II. But, in reality, it was very easy; this is where we changed direction from predominantly original music to predominantly Top 40. Or to put it another way, the beginning of the end.

I'm not exactly sure where we met Donna for the first time but she was a struggling singer songwriter in town and, at least at first, it seemed like a match that was--if not completely made in Heaven--was at least workable.

This version of the band only lasted a few months (maybe half a year or so). We recorded an EP (cassette tape - "A Fine Line"), played a few gigs and then went our separate ways.

No "fizzle" out on this one. Just a "hard stop."
