encounter - the second film
Cal Johnson has just seen something. Something strange and eerie. And it wasn't like a weather balloon or a low flying plane.
The problem is that Cal has been asked to "keep his mouth shut" by the sheriff (who knows how people will react if he doesn't) . . . but it's too late. Cal's already talked to the good folks at Channel 9 News. (Oops!)
And the resulting soundbite interview is not pretty!
We started filming on encounter in June of 2000. And what an undertaking!
Turns out that a no budget film is an enormous amount of work! After completing "It's Human Skin" last year, Chip and I started thinking about our next feature project.
It was actually Chip that had the idea for encounter.
Something he'd been kicking around since he was a small boy in China. It's the story of a guy that "sees something", but can't really say for sure what it was. The story focuses, not on what he's seen, but on how he's treated by the town. (And by the media!)
